Joshua Bandoch

Josh Bandoch is Senior Vice President of Policy Research at FREOPP. He’s deeply passionate about fighting poverty and expanding opportunity for our low-income neighbors.

Josh has written reports on a wide range of poverty and opportunity issues, such as on a career-first education system, occupational licensing, housing affordability, and social mobility. His work has been published in National Review, RealClearPolitics, RealClearPolicy, Chicago Sun-Times, and the Washington Examiner, and he has appeared on Fox Business.

Prior to joining FREOPP, Josh was Head of Policy at the Illinois Policy Institute, and a Research Fellow at the Competitive Enterprise Institute. Josh was previously a postdoctoral fellow at Brown University and the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He was a strategic communications consultant at Booz Allen Hamilton, and a speechwriter for senior government officials.

Josh is an internationally recognized persuasion expert. His book, How to Get What You Want: Mastering the Art and Science of Persuasion, was ranked the #1 new book on negotiation on Amazon and is being translated into Korean, Spanish, and Portuguese.

Josh was born and raised in Baltimore, Maryland. He earned his B.A. in Government and Politics from the University of Maryland, College Park, and his Ph.D. in Political Science from the University of Notre Dame. He lives in Arlington, Virginia, with his wife, two kids, and two dogs.
